Dear Urban Academy Families,

Thank you for a wonderful week as we settle back into school routines and establish new ones for our new families. On Monday of the upcoming week, September 24, our full school assembly takes place at Olivet Baptist Church from 1:30pm to 2:10pm. This first assembly is always set aside to have all of the students and staff come together, meet the new teachers and have our youngest students learn about attending assembly. Parents are welcome to join us if you are able. We will seat our students first, it is an important part of learning to go to assembly and we have a lot of new students and some very young ones. We will start promptly at 1:30pm and it usually lasts about 35-40 minutes.

Next week we will also have student and class photos taken at each site; Tuesday, September 25 at Robson and Wednesday, September 26 at Uptown. Both the assembly and the picture day are formal uniform events. Students must be in formal uniform on those days. We will call you to supply formal uniform if your child comes to school without formal uniform. For students up to and including Grade 5, if it is a PE day, they will come in formal uniform and the PE instructors will modify the class so that the clothing is not an issue. Older students will, as usual, change from formal to PE uniform as needed.

At Robson, we ask all parents and students entering the school grounds to walk inside the yellow lines. This is a safety precaution to ensure motorists exiting the porte-cochere can see you.

Student clubs and co-curricular activities are in full swing at Uptown and an outline of those activities and the times that groups meet is attached to this email. We are in the process of working on fencing – it may be possible to have fencing return to Uptown and we will be working with our students as soon as we are able on that count. Clubs at Robson will be on the go in October and teachers are organizing the first term of opportunities for the younger students.

Have a relaxing and enjoyable weekend. We will see everyone on Monday morning, ready for another week, full of learning.
