Dear Urban Academy Families,

Our Parent Education evening at Uptown this week was most successful with a very good turnout to hear a presentation on
digital responsibility for youth. Safer Schools Together is the provincial framework for safe schools that both public and
private schools work within to enhance learning and responsiveness to student conflict, digital responsibility and teaching
students how to navigate the digital world. Staff at UA, like other BC schools, take part in the provincial program of ERASE
training to stay current with the work being done in this area. A website that parents may wish to look at for information if
you were not able to be with us is https://saferschoolstogether.com/parent-resources/. Thank you to our Board of Directors
who have taken the lead on hosting Parent Education with input from PAX.

Ms. Casey McKnight is back with us and we are so pleased to see her return. She will start with her Uptown French classes
and then add her Robson classes. Mrs. Sara McBride will also join us starting December 17 from her year’s maternity leave.
She will be back with us part time and will TOC as well as provide support at Robson. Welcome back to both ladies, we are
glad to have you with us.

We are only a few short weeks to the winter break. A reminder to our families that the winter holiday this year is extended an
extra week and students will return to class on January 14. Out of School Care spots for the Winter Break must be confirmed
now by payment handed in to the office. If you need care for your child over the break, please ensure that you have registered
for the days required.

We are looking forward to seeing parents at both sites for Parent Teacher interviews next week. It is important to speak
directly with your child’s teacher to learn of their progress and ask questions about the goals for the upcoming term.

Have an enjoyable weekend with your family.

Mrs. Cheryle Beaumont
Head of School
