January 11, 2019

Dear Urban Academy Families,

Happy New Year! I hope that all of our families had an enjoyable break. We are looking forward to welcoming you back to school and are excited about the upcoming year. 2019 will be a wonderful year. Staff have been back in working to prepare for our move to the new school and I will be providing the school community with details on the move next week. Things are going extremely well on the site, the progress is excellent and we are into operations for the move, at the new site as well as packing up our current sites.

You will note attached to this email an announcement from the City of New Westminster that they will be repairing all of the pathways at Tipperary Park, across the street from our Junior School. The City plans to start the work during the week of January 21. Families will need to walk around on the sidewalk from the parking at Tipperary Park during the repair period. The greenspace will be open for us to use with the children but the pathways to cross the park will all be fenced as they repair and replace the current paths.

Our new JK and K families for next year have been accepted and will be committing through their Consolidated Activity Fee payment this coming week on January 15. We are working through applications at all other grades now and will be admitting those families throughout January and February. For our returning families, we will send out re-registration documentation early in February. The re-registration commitment and Consolidated Activity Fee is due for returning families at the end of February. This year with our move imminent at the end of February, families will need to have their Consolidated Activity Fee and paperwork in by February 21, but can date their cheques for February 28 the way we always have. We do not want to miss any of our returning families or your documentation by having the fee and paperwork due the day we are scheduled to move.

We are sorry to say good-bye to Ms. Nicole Bourget, who has been with us for several years in Out-of-School Care and coverage in Junior Kindergarten. She is moving on to a new centre and continuing her studies. Thank you, Ms. Bourget for your care of our UA students.

Welcome back, we are looking forward to seeing all of you on Monday morning!

 Mrs. Cheryle Beaumont
Head of School
