Dear Urban Academy Families,

It has been an intense and exciting few weeks as we prepare for our move out of our old school sites and into our new one. The new school will be a wonderful adventure in learning. We will get to know our new facility slowly and work through the transition to the new space. Thank you to our families who joined us for the orientations. On Monday, March 4 the classroom orientations at Rousseau begin. These orientation sessions are important for students to familiarise themselves and set the tone for their new surroundings. Students are required to wear their regular day-to-day uniform for their orientation sessions. Please do not drive on to the site but park in the neighbourhood (in a permitted area on the street) and walk through the front doors to meet your teachers. Administration will have parking and drop off passes available for families who do not yet have theirs or have both of the passes for their family.

We are saying goodbye to both Robson Manor and the Uptown campus, both of which hold fond memories for the students, families and staff. UA has appreciated the start that both facilities gave us and are pleased to have them as a part of our story. On behalf of the Board of Directors, our school community and my staff, we wish PALS Autism Society the very best as they move in to their own school at Robson and make it theirs. May it offer the same welcome to their families and students that it did to ours.

Thank you to everyone for their work in preparing for the move. Thank you to the vision and leadership of our Board of Directors who have guided a large and exciting project. I would like to acknowledge my staff who have been incredibly flexible and creative, packing and teaching amidst the boxes. The team at our new school is working hard to ensure our teaching spaces are comfortable both during the move and afterward.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the Gala on Saturday and welcoming you to 466 Rousseau Street next week!

Have a lovely weekend.

Mrs. Cheryle Beaumont
Head of School
