Head of School’s Weekly Message
May 1, 2020
Dear Urban Academy Families,
Thank you for a good week of eLearning. The response on the social media posts as well as the daily Seesaw and Google classroom is testimony that our families are engaged every day in supporting our students with us.
Each spring, we survey our families on a number of topics to seek your feedback on what aspects of programming and community initiatives have been effective over the last year and the areas we need to re-examine our practice. Your responses help guide the Head of School and the staff on how we can continue to provide the best school environment we can for your child. I have always appreciated and valued the feedback we receive, and I do put it to good use in shaping the upcoming year.
On Monday, May 4, our survey for this school year will be sent out to you. Please take a moment to go through it and answer the questions as well as provide your own thoughts on the work of UA this year. Thank you in advance for your time on this. While this year has certainly had an unusual third term, I also know that our parents’ values and expectations for their children and learning remain the same.
Grade 6-12 parents will receive their child’s interim report by email next Friday, May 8. We have made some changes to accommodate the focus on the core academics and the eLearning program, creating an email version. Please look for it on May 8 and review the teacher feedback with your child.
As noted above, the summer OOSC registration deadline is Friday, June 12. Please submit the attached registration form, with the days/weeks you require and payment, by that date. For fee details, please contact the Administration Office at email@example.com.
We have been working with InSchoolwear to organize shopping for uniforms for next year while we are still under pandemic restrictions in our community. The store has plenty of stock but our current families are encouraged to shop online at present, as with other retailers. The online ordering code is urba. There will be a discount of 5% on all products purchased in June; in July and August families can shop by appointment at the store. Please make an appointment directly with firstname.lastname@example.org starting on June 1. There will be contactless pick-up for online orders at the store, 7666 Winston Street in Burnaby.
Please remember to go online to order your yearbook (click here for ordering instructions).
Have an enjoyable weekend. We miss you!
Mrs. Cheryle Beaumont
