Extra-Curricular Activities

Celebrate Learning

Urban Academy is committed to education, but we are also committed to offering an engaging, exciting and fun environment.  From 100 days of school with all sorts of art and math projects, to 3.14 (pi) day on March 14th where cakes and pies abound, to showcasing French plays and projects throughout the year - we know how to celebrate learning!  Senior students also take part in off-site leadership development, and can participate in the travel and service club planning cultural and service oriented trips annually.

Another very eagerly anticipated part of our annual programming is the camping trip every June.  From archery, rock climbing, swimming and all sorts of other adventures, students look forward to the UA camping trip throughout the year.

With parent and teacher support, we are also happy to offer clubs both during school hours and after school at both the Junior and Senior Schools.  The offering changes each term based on student interest and parent/teacher involvement, but here is a sample of some of the clubs that we have offered:  knitting, board games, chess, dance, instant challenge, math, yearbook, honour band, leadership, yoga, computer programming, destination imagination, lego and many more!

Sports Teams

As the school continues to grow, in addition to sports clubs, Urban Academy continues to add sports teams to our extra-curricular offering.  The UA Fencing Club has been offered to students from grades 6-12 for the last number of years and competes amongst other other independent schools.  The school also runs a boys' soccer team, a girl's volleyball team and a track and field cross country team for interested students.  New this year is a UA Basketball Team, and there are always more new teams to come on the horizon.  Teams compete against other ISABC (Independent School Association of BC) schools throughout the Lower Mainland.
