Head of School’s Weekly Message
October 13, 2017
Dear Urban Academy Families,
Thank you for a good week, focused on learning. Our grade 6-12 students had Interim Reports home this week at the mid-way point in the reporting term. This is an important function in the Senior School, we want parents to be well-apprised of the progress of their child and able to work with us if there are any concerns long before a final first term mark is determined. For all families, JK through grade 12, please stay in touch with your child’s teachers and ask for feedback if you are concerned or have any questions. Our teachers will be doing the same for you.
Junior School students are also at the mid-way point in the term. If you have any questions or concerns at all, please touch base with your child’s teacher.
Over the next few weeks we will be putting the ticket purchase process in place as we prepare to host the Winter Concert at the Anvil Centre on December 14th. For our new families, please mark that evening in your calendar. All families will need tickets to attend (2 per family) and child care will be provided at Robson for pre-school-age siblings. The date will arrive quickly (It is hard to believe we are booking Christmas season commitments!) and you will want to have made preparations to be free that evening to enjoy your child’s performance. Specific information on tickets will come to you on November 10th. Please make sure to read the instructions carefully.
Our registration is brisk for September 2018 and our first Open House is full for this weekend. We find that JK and K is filling fast and a number of new applicants are siblings of older students. We give siblings priority but families do need to apply and go through the process to get that prioritized access. We have heard from several, however, if you have a younger child you wish to enroll for 2018 we will need to be informed of that very soon. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you haven’t already started the application process.
A reminder that InSchool Wear will be on site on October 22 from 10am to 3pm, able to meet with families to order uniform, discuss sizing options and answer questions.
Have a wonderful weekend.
